Stanford vs. Notre Dame Reaction 2011

Stanford defeated Notre Dame 28-14 in the Cardinal’s final home game of the season. Stanford now holds an 11-1 record. Since Oregon defeated Oregon State, Stanford will not qualify for the PAC-12 championship game or an automatic berth to a BCS bowl. They do, however, have a good chance for an at large bid.

Stanford and Cal will play for the 114th time in the annual Big Game. Outside observers might not fully understand what Big Game means to both these schools. Let’s just say that Cal’s band was more than willing to come to Stanford and play their fight song at 4 am in the morning.

In the Aftermath of Oregon

The Cardinal will not go undefeated this year. After losing to Oregon on Saturday, Stanford has moved to #9 in the BCS. The loss greatly disappointed me, as I’m sure it did many people. The game had too much hype and overall too much anxiety. Oregon scored another sound victory against Stanford for the second year in a row.
