Fighting Ignorance with Ignorance

by Nadiv Rahman on February 8, 2012

As Black History Month comes upon us once again, a lone ranger at Brigham Young University set out to shed light on how little people at his college know about this annual observance. BYU, famous for its rainbow-colored diversity (if you’re surprised, you should check out the photo at the bottom of this post), did not amuse him. I haven’t entirely put my finger on whether his actions were plain ignorant, or just tactless, but I leave that up to you to decide.

Looking back on the foundation of America, race relations have improved in everyday life in America a lot as far as the treament of African Americans publically, but remember chantell slavery existed for the benefit of the ruling class (plutocracy). Systematic racism is still alive and well, some whites American have not realized the barbaric mistreatment of people who were thought to be 3/5ths of a human being, subhuman, etc. Young whites in part are fed by (racist parents) popular media (brainwashed) how to view African Americans. The character of an individual is the basis of social interactions, respect for human dignity, all Americans could use a lesson or two for sound character expression.
