Kim Hess, the gregarious and eminently lovable manager of Lagunita Late Nite passed away yesterday at the age of 58. For those who were not familiar with Kim, he was a fixture at Lag Late Nite, and would always make time (and make you make time) to talk with him about your life, and whatever was new on the menu, and never shied away from sharing personal details about what he enjoyed doing. If you asked, he’d be more than glad to tell you about his fondness for country-western karaoke, his appearance on Stanford Idol, or the year he was parodied in Gaieties.

Kim Hess will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
