On Wednesday morning, the ASSU Executive and Stanford Student Enterprises Chair announced to the Undergraduate Senate that Frederik Groce, CEO of SSE and Financial Manager of the ASSU, has resigned. The news followed controversy that Groce had hired his girlfriend without SSE approval, allegations later contested by other informants within the organization.

The letter to the Undergraduate Senate says that the ASSU is “more than confident in the current organizational structure”, that the “candidates for [Groce’s] position are exceedingly qualified”, and that a final pick will be announced shortly. It also “thank[s] Frederick for his longtime service” to ASSU and SSE.

Update: This article was amended to reflect continued uncertainty over the rationale behind Groce’s resignation.
