Campaigns to return ROTC to some of America’s elite college campuses have received increasing amounts of press in the past number of months. From op-eds in the *New York Times*to Chronicle of Higher Education book reviews, from Harvard Crimson features to AEI blog posts, the issue has risen to national prominence, accelerated by recent endorsements from many significant public figures.

Progress has been slow, but this week, Columbia took a significant step in allowing its students who participate in ROTC (off campus, at Fordham) the opportunity to conduct a military flag ceremony. According to the Columbia Daily Spectator, “The University Senate recently gave its permission for ROTC students to raise and lower the flag every week, after a 42 year ban on military activity on campus.” Video of the ceremony is below:
