Yesterday both the Tenzin-Vasquez slate and SOCC candidates held events to reach out to voters. Tenzin Seldon and Joe Vasquez event was a campaign kick-off at the Treehouse with dozens of supporters.

SOCC candidates campaigned in White Plaza during lunch along with the Campaign to Abstain movement, a new initiative spearheaded by various Stanford students urging the student body to abstain from the ROTC ballot question. In an email message, Janani Balasubramanian, a member of the Campaign to Abstain, stated “we believe civil rights of minorities should not be up for a vote, and especially not up to the vote of a majority.”

The Cruz-Magregor-Dennis slate is firmly committed to the campaign, and any senator endorsed by the Women’s Coalition had to promise to actively oppose ROTC’s return, so they may also fall in line with the Campaign to Abstain.
