Halle Berry Lookalike Steals Precious Diamond, Jacket at Stanford Shopping Mall

I know it’s January, but what could possibly beat this out for story of the year?

Just months after finishing a prison sentence for stealing a $30,000 diamond from Neiman Marcus at Stanford Shopping Center, renowned international thief Doris Payne has been arrested again.

Payne, 79, is the subject of a Hollywood movie starring Halle Berry scheduled to be released later this year. But on Friday, she was arrested in Costa Mesa after she allegedly tried to pilfer a $1,300 Burberry jacket from Saks Fifth Avenue.

Wait, Which One Was Halle Berry?
Oh, and it only gets better!

It adds to a long rap sheet for the lifelong criminal, who is notorious for using elegant attire and charm to escape suspicion as she walks out of high-end stores with some of their priciest wares.

Some are growing weary of her act though:

Santa Clara County prosecutor Paul Jhin told The Daily News at the time he hoped she would give up on crime given her age and the fame that would come from the movie, titled “Who is Doris Payne?”
