Elections Commission Releases Petition Counts

Elections Commissioner Adam Adler has just released the officially validated list of candidates and special fees for the 2012 election. Access the Google Doc here. Notable items:

– Six executive candidates made it onto the ballot this year. While some of the slates may not be serious, it seems as though several will be seriously campaigning, which would make this one of the more active executive campaign seasons of the past few years.

– Among the valided executive slates, only Brianna Pang/Dan DeLong and Robbie Zimbroff/William Wagstaff qualified for public financing. Despite collecting 1076 signatures, Stewart Macgregor-Dennis/Druthi Ghanta fell 10 graduate signatures short of qualifying for public financing. Public financing will allow slates to be reimbursed for up to $500 in campaign expenditures. Check out campaign finance rules for the executive here.

– Three special fees groups failed to attain enough signatures: 6th Man Club, The Claw, and Aisthesis.

– 27 candidates were validated for the Undergraduate Senate. Last year 38 candidates made the final ballot.
